Zhang San-Feng 13 Postures

video

This is the original wudang taijiquan form created by Zhang san-feng on wudang shan. Notice that it is distinct in its own style and flavor as Master Zhong Yun performs it. Despite his lack of space he still moves like a slow river changing from substantial to insubstantial yin/yang. He starts with a little wuji qigong or zhong ding as some like to say; while digging his feet into the earth just before moving. Many techniques here are very different than any family style that you may have seen, while others are more similar like his "single whip". His Lu jin is different in many ways because his lead hand does not fall down with his rear hand, which comes back up for Ji. His An jin is performed as if he has ran out of space as you will notice at 0:50- 0:55, but still flows smoothly. Notice his moving of his feet is different from the straight line stepping that is seen in many family styles of Taijiquan.
