The staff is the original long weapon for all long weapons among Chinese martial art weaponry. The traditional Yang Style Tai Chi staff, performed by Julian Chu and his student James Mao at 2016 Greater Washington DC Area Tai Chi Festival, is the traditional Tai Chi Spear Form without the metal spear. It is very energetic, balance intensive, and indicative of internal strength.
长枪是中国古老的传统长兵器。朱殿蓉老师及其学生毛敦正表演的是失传己久的传统杨氏太极大枪。因爲杨班侯自幼好斗，其母怕他闯祸，把枪头卸掉，从此变爲太极杆。杆法就是枪法，演练时要求周身之劲直达杆头，气势雄伟。
