video

San Jose chiropractor Dr. William Holdsworth DC from Pain Relief Chiropractic explains a research study that found those who suffer from prostate cancer may be able to use Qi Gong and Tai Chi for better quality of sleep. Prostate cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy often suffer sleep disturbance and fatigue. A new study investigated the effect of qigong/tai chi (QGTC)—an ancient Chinese practice that combines slow, deliberate movements, meditation, and breathing exercises—among prostate cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. In the study, patients either performed QGTC or light exercise for 40-minutes three times per week. The researchers found that in the QGTC group experienced greater improvement in sleep duration midway through their cancer treatment than those in the light exercise group. The study reveals the benefit of mind body exercises in the treatment of radiotherapy symptoms.
