The Hook or "Beak" hand in Taijiquan's Single Whip can be used in a variety of ways in combat. The first example has me applying Ward Off ( Peng Jin), Rollback ( Lu Jin ) , Push ( Ahn Jin ) , and Strike (Lieh Jin ) with one hand . i come from the outside parrying Suehiko's right punch with my left wrist to the inside with a rise up/drill energy. This will cause a resistance that can be followed down and outward. i apply a subtle Ahn Jin ( downward energy pressing through your opponent's structure causing an upward resistance ) which when combined with the outward turning of my waist and sudden release ( fall/overturn) of the Ahn Jin will "swirl" my opponent in his feet destabilizing him and sending him into a head-on collision with my incoming fist. i adhere to his inner arm and " bridge" up the inside of his arm both controlling his arm and guiding me to his armpit / heart 1 Point.
