This is Volume 3 in Anna York’s New Creation Tai Chi-Qigong series. Volume 1 is Tai Chi-Qigong for All Abilities, and Volume 2 is Tai Chi-Qigong for Walking, Balance & Strength. Volume 4 is Tai Chi-Qigong: Healing Your Hands. All DVD’s have seated and standing adaptations and are complementary to each other.

Our bodies need to warm up before any type of activity in order to get muscles, joints and fascia working in the very best way. Moving too quickly from static positions to active exercise can cause stiffness, soreness, reduced performance and possibly painful injury. Anna York presents warm-ups that are built on the healing principles of Tai Chi and Qigong, so they are especially beneficial. She provides both seated and standing demonstrations so the exercises are accessible for all abilities.

Head-to-toe exercises include hips, knees, ankles, feet, arms, neck, shoulders and torso. While the warm-ups address muscles, tendons and ligaments, they also nurture the internal fascia of the body, the network of connective tissue that holds our organs and tissues together, protects our nervous system and helps us move in a harmonious way. Healthier fascia means better flexibility and mobility.

Gentle movements relieve pain and stiffness and help restore function after hip or knee surgery or traumatic injury. Posture, weight shifting and core movements improve balance, stability and walking skills--and also help reduce falls. Gentle Qigong shaking rejuvenates the body right down to the cellular level. The slow, gentle Tai Chi movement is especially beneficial for therapy after surgery or trauma.

Exercises are adaptable to individual needs. They are a great way to start your day and get you moving and feeling good. You can integrate them with gym or other exercises, or do them when you don’t have time for a full workout. They are especially helpful for short periods of rejuvenation during the day or on a break at work.

With this DVD, Anna York adds another volume to her growing library of healing videos that address the needs of those of all abilities. Once severely disabled from multiple sclerosis, she knows the need for healing exercise not just for the body but also for the mind, emotions and spirit. The incredible beauty of the natural setting of land, sea and sky, and the paragliding sequences on this DVD are inspirational and uplifting.
