It's easy to tell someone to "be in the moment," but harder to do. It's also much harder to STAY in the moment because the daily stresses of life find ways to creep into your thoughts. Suddenly, you're running a list of groceries in your head, or things you need to do at work. Wherever your head is, it isn't right here, right now, for long.

There are many health benefits to keeping your mind in the present moment- one of which being stress reduction. By keeping your mind on what's around you, you get a clarity of thought that allows you to disconnect from things that aren't relevant to you- things that compound stress on you day by day.

The mind needs rest just as much as the body does. The constant chatter and lights of social media and entertainment might seem like a reprieve at times, but it doesn't give your mind the rest it needs to relax.
