Qigong Healing Sounds: Liver Sound

video

In this installment of the healing sounds, Alicia describes the function of the liver in qigong and Chinese medicine. She demonstrates the sound, movement, and hand gesture for the liver, whose function involves Relaxation and Restoration. There is a spiraling movement and energy accompanying the healing sound that resembles the blossoming of a plant, and indeed, the liver in Chinese Medicine is associated with wood and springtime, and with the sinews and ligaments.

The sound for the liver is soothing, like the gentle rustling of leaves in spring, or the soft shushing of a baby. It can be used to soothe anxiety and tension common in urban areas, in the same way that going to the country provides a needed respite from fast-paced city life.
