Welcome to Day 9 of 30 Days of Qigong to Better Health as Chris continues with the Yin Cleansing Exercises for the internal organs. The five Yin Organs (the Heart, the Lungs, the Kidneys, the Liver, and the Spleen) are responsible for maintaining vitality from the foods, the air, and the liquids we ingest. The Lungs are paired with the Large Intestine, and the function of both is particularly expressed in the quality of the skin and the strength of the voice. This may be especially noticeable in someone who has had a bad cold, or acute or chronic lung problems, or in someone who has recently been experiencing great worry, grief, or sorrow. The Lungs, the most superficial organ, are particularly involved with regulating interaction between the body and the air of the environment: through inhalation and exhalation, by opening and closing the pores of the skin, and by producing and maintaining Wei Qi (Defensive Qi/immunity).
